I haven't had much luck around here so I'm off to the next area which is Highgate. I have still got quite a bit off time left so no hurry as yet.  The staff at the charity shops have been helpful thus far, me asking some of them about the 60's must bring back those good old days to remembrance.
Now in the next shop trying to come across a decanter, fruit bowl and drinking glasses. I saw some Decanters however they were like £15 - £18. I think I will give this one a miss or else I will have blown my budget of £20.
In Muswell Hill now and just purchased a nice looking vase. Even though it's an additional item in regards to what I'm looking for, I think it shall fit well for the 60's couple to put there flowers in plus it doesn't break the bank. Onto the next charity shop.

Final Meeting

The team just had a last meeting where we discussed our own experiences from today. We then got the chance to show the group what we bought and talk about them a bit. At the end of this meeting, we evaluated this training experience. Overall I said that I am very happy with this experience and I have gained a lot more knowledge about the expectation within the industry. Thank you ONSCENE!!

the final meeting of the project

Just had our final meeting for the project an it went pretty well, I got a proper understanding of how everything went and what expectations were and weren't met and being able to voice my own opinion on the project as a whole was a nice way to end it

My items

These are the items I bought today!!

Final Meeting

Today was the end of our project; we had a final meeting where each team member displayed their purchases of the day.

We also discussed the project as whole, giving our opinion as well as assessing ourselves in terms of punctuality and individual contribution to the project. Towards the end of the meeting we had a general discussion about the media industry; we were told that we'd performed well and our efforts would lead us to receiving references.

This the dress and shirt I bought:

Continuing to shop...

The third and final charity shop I went to was an Octavia Foundation shop. After browsing the rails, I managed to find a dress with a similar shape to a dress I found in my research at the V&A Museum. As the embellishment on the neckline is coming off, the dress may need to be altered by a tailor. After purchasing it at £10, I decided to go back to the Geranium shop to buy the shirt with stripes so I can provide Denise and Phil with options.

posters

Unfortunately I wasn't able to find any posters or newspapers with Christine Keeler but I was able to get some posters of Audrey Hepburn and The Beatles which I think is a good ultimatum

cups and stirrers

Just got lucky and found some cocktail stirrers and tupaware cups from A & K warehouse

Ready to go back to Collage Arts

Found all that I could, think it's time to take my findings back to a Collage Arts

Kensington High Street

After some confusion with the tube lines, I managed to get to High Street Kensington with plenty of time to find my items.
I went inside the first charity shop I saw, Oxfam, and began my search for a 1960's dress, vintage scarf and a Penguin book (or a book of that style). Straight away, I found  one of my items - the scarf decorated with a brown and gold pattern for £4.98.

I also managed to find a Penguin book that appears to be from the 1960's/1970's era however it is hard to tell as there is no date; it cost 99p.

I next went into a Geranium charity shop; I found one polyester shirt with stripes for £1 however I wasn't too convinced - I decided to shop around for a bit longer, seeing if I could find anything better suited to the brief.

got cutlery

I finally got success finding cutlery in a convenience store on the high street

Weds-20th-Nov-2013

Today we are all planning to travel around London, trying to find our specific items. We all arrived early, meeting at Wood Green station and were given £20 each by Marie to buy our items.

Magazine Trouble

I'm finding it hard to find magazines that look like they could've been published in the 1969s. However in the Oxfam shop I have found a book that could be just as good.

Back to Cancer Research Charity Shop

After exploring around Putney High Street for the other items, I found myself back in the Cancer Research Charity shop and found something that could be used as a coffee pot.

Poster shop

I found quite a nice little market that had different pop cultured pieces from banksy to Andy Warhol and they also had some nice photos but unfortunately thwy didn't have anything of Christine Keeler

arriving in camden

I have arrived at Camden and so far I'm having trouble finding my specific items as a lot the shops have not opened yet but hopefully soon I'll have more success.
The meeting at the end of day was interesting to say the least I did learn about how things should work and what consequences some of my actions would of had. I was told what I needed to find and then left to plan for ny trip to camden

I have just arrived in Putney Bridge ready to start looking in the shops for my items!!

Morning meeting

We all managed to get to Wood Green station on time this morning!!

Before I headed up to the beautiful Muswell hills, I stopped off at oxfam in wood green and got a nice little £0.49p buy. I think the glass cup should play the part.
Just meet up with the team, oysters top up and brief viewed over again. Ready to go on on my bargin hunt to find some glass artefacts from the 1960's on a £20 budget.

De-Brief

At 4:45pm today, we had a team meeting which consisted of students showing photo's they had taken at their specific museums as well as a de-briefing of the day.
During the meeting, we were told by Denise & Phil what tasks were performed well and where we could improve. Overall, they were both happy with our team.
Finally, we also discussed what 3 artefacts we each are to individually find in our designated areas tomorrow: I am to find:
- a 1960's dress
- a vintage scarf
- a 'Penguin' style book

Prep for Charity Shops

I'm looking forward for tomorrow, but at the same time I'm thinking what if i don't find nothing that relates....

Back at Collage Arts

Back at Collage Arts gave me time to recap my day and plan for my presentation for this evening......

Tate Modern

Today I also visited the renowned Tate Modern, in search of art that would portray the hippy 1960's.
According to research the pop art movement was quite big in those days. Famous artist such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein took control of this art scene producing a vast number of works that contributed to the style of work. In the Tate Modern I came across 1960's works also in pop art fashion from textile artist Tracey Emin.

Photos coming shortly

I had a fun time at the Tate Modern beholding some great works of art!

Ready for Day 2

Today was absolutely great!! I am looking forward to going to Putney Bridge tomorrow to find the items that I will be searching for. I am currently searching for ways to get to Putney Bridge and looking over my photos to remember what sort of style I'm looking for.
Currently searching up on how to get to Clapham & Back up locations for items needed.

Meeting point

This morning we all arrived ready and alert at Wood Good tube station!! Ready to start touring the V&A and our allocated destinations. My plans for this afternoon have changed as I will be visiting The Museum of London..how exciting!!

V&A Modern Section

At 10 we arrived at the V&A where we were all given our own section to look at and take photographs, I had to go to the modern section and find the items that were made specifically in the 1960s which was quite an interesting experience seeing some objects that I have seen before like the photo of Christine Keeler.

It didn't take me too long to get the photos I needed so I decided to move on to the next place on my schedule which is the BFI library.

These are just a few of the photo's I took at modern section at the V&A

V&A Museum Glassworks

Today we meet up at Wood Green tube station at 8:50am sharp! We then ventured of to visit the V&A Museum in classy South Kensington. When we got there everyone went off in their own directions in accordance to their assigned task. I have been put onto the task of finding crafted glassworks relating to the 1960's.

Photos coming shortly.....

Meeting at Wood Green

I had prepared this morning to be able to make on time even going to bed much earlier than usual to give myself a good amount of time to sleep. So getting ready and leaving the house went swimmingly but I did run into some problems on public transport as I was delayed on the central line, but because I had left half an hour earlier than I should of managed to still arrive to the meeting point at wood green station with 15 minutes to spare.

Back at Collage Arts

I am now back at Collage Arts, looking through the photos I took at the V&A Museum and The Museum of London. I have thoroughly enjoyed today's tasks so far and look forward to doing some more research on the 1960s. I am also preparing myself for tomorrows tasks, where I will be going out to charity shops and buying 3 products relating to what I found today.

The Museum of London

This afternoon I visited The Museum of London, in central London near St. Paul's. This was a very exciting experience for me as I had never been there before, and I came across so many interesting things!!

One of the first things I came across in the 1960s area in the museum, was this Vespa. Vespas were commonly used in the 1960s, especially by Mods.

I noticed a few appearances of The Beatles, as they had a great impact on British Music in the 1960s.

I came across a few products made out of 'fused glass', which was commonly used in the late 1960s.

Lastly I came across this very interesting piece of information regarding the Smog, which Phil (Art Director) mentioned in our briefing session. Also in this photo it shows the 629 bus heading towards Enfield, which was a bus a sometimes used to get on, interesting!!

Tasks continued

Having arrived back at Collage Arts, I am now going through the images I took of the displays in the museums today. I am also continuing to prepare for tomorrow's task: buying 3 artefacts (in terms of 1950's/1960's fashion) on Kensington High St.

In preparation, I am continuing to research British fashion during the 1960's and comparing them to the images I took today.

Thoughts on the Briefing

Yesterday morning me and 5 other people were given a briefing on the On Scene Project that we were informed we would be taking part in. I did find the briefing interesting and that the project might be quite helpful and give us a better understanding of the work sector in tv and film. So I was on board with doing it although I felt like the credit system was very flawed and could be quite discouraging because if you lose out on one credit then you've basically failed and I feel like if I was say to be late by one minute and lose a credit I wouldn't feel like participating in the rest of it. Apart from that I am looking forward to it.

The V&A Museum - Ceramics

This morning we visited the Victoria & Albert Museum in South Kensington, where I explored the area on ceramics. I searched for a section dedicated to ceramics from the 1960s, but shortly found that they were scattered across the whole floor, in different rooms and in different areas. It was time to take the challenge of finding as many ceramic products from the 1960s. I sat down at the desk in the corner of the room, where I was able to use this computer that had all the information about where I could find what I was looking for. I managed to write down which rooms, case numbers and which shelves I would find these various ceramic products. These are some of the things I came across:
