Back at Collage Arts

I am now back at Collage Arts, looking through the photos I took at the V&A Museum and The Museum of London. I have thoroughly enjoyed today's tasks so far and look forward to doing some more research on the 1960s. I am also preparing myself for tomorrows tasks, where I will be going out to charity shops and buying 3 products relating to what I found today.

The Museum of London

This afternoon I visited The Museum of London, in central London near St. Paul's. This was a very exciting experience for me as I had never been there before, and I came across so many interesting things!!

One of the first things I came across in the 1960s area in the museum, was this Vespa. Vespas were commonly used in the 1960s, especially by Mods.

I noticed a few appearances of The Beatles, as they had a great impact on British Music in the 1960s.

I came across a few products made out of 'fused glass', which was commonly used in the late 1960s.

Lastly I came across this very interesting piece of information regarding the Smog, which Phil (Art Director) mentioned in our briefing session. Also in this photo it shows the 629 bus heading towards Enfield, which was a bus a sometimes used to get on, interesting!!

Tasks continued

Having arrived back at Collage Arts, I am now going through the images I took of the displays in the museums today. I am also continuing to prepare for tomorrow's task: buying 3 artefacts (in terms of 1950's/1960's fashion) on Kensington High St.

In preparation, I am continuing to research British fashion during the 1960's and comparing them to the images I took today.

Thoughts on the Briefing

Yesterday morning me and 5 other people were given a briefing on the On Scene Project that we were informed we would be taking part in. I did find the briefing interesting and that the project might be quite helpful and give us a better understanding of the work sector in tv and film. So I was on board with doing it although I felt like the credit system was very flawed and could be quite discouraging because if you lose out on one credit then you've basically failed and I feel like if I was say to be late by one minute and lose a credit I wouldn't feel like participating in the rest of it. Apart from that I am looking forward to it.

The V&A Museum - Ceramics

This morning we visited the Victoria & Albert Museum in South Kensington, where I explored the area on ceramics. I searched for a section dedicated to ceramics from the 1960s, but shortly found that they were scattered across the whole floor, in different rooms and in different areas. It was time to take the challenge of finding as many ceramic products from the 1960s. I sat down at the desk in the corner of the room, where I was able to use this computer that had all the information about where I could find what I was looking for. I managed to write down which rooms, case numbers and which shelves I would find these various ceramic products. These are some of the things I came across:
