The Fashion and Textile Museum
After the V & A, I went to The Fashion and Textile Museum to continue my research into 1950's-1960's fashion.

First task: The Victoria & Albert Museum
Today our team visited the V&A museum to look at displays of our individual set areas.
Whilst in the fashion section, I saw the evolution of clothes and style but focused on 1940's-1960's era. When viewing clothes from 1960 onwards, I noticed an explosion of colour and design - the end of WW2 being a catalyst for this explosion as people in Britain were celebrating despite still having to ration fabric and money.

David Christie ONSCENE brief
6 apprentices from Collage Arts including myself have been selected to re create a scene from the 1960's. The set shall portray a young couple in there late twenties with 2 young children in a one-bedrom flat near a power station in Battersea south London.
Tomorrow we are to set off to the V&A to discover What kind of Artefacts would have been used during that period of time inc: dining table, glassworks, ceramics and fashion etc. Then after that venture we are to split up individually to visit an other institution to which we have been assigned to. Mine being the Tate Modern in order to discover art, subject and culture from the 1960's.
I am looking forward to this project being arty myself, I wish to be assigned as the art directors assistant. Philip Sherman who is the art director for this project is jolly anyway so hopefully it shall be a ball!

Introduction of Project

Today, our team was introduced to the project: 'Managing individual contribution in the context of working in a collaborative creative team (Scenography/Art Direction)'.
In the morning, we had a meeting with the task leaders about the project where we had explained to us the brief as well as the itinerary of the week. The brief is to, as a team, 'create a sceneset in Battersea, South London in November 1963 in a one-bedroomed flat near the power station'; there will be four characters: a woman aged 25, a man aged 28, a boy aged 5 and a girl aged 3. After the brief was explained, we were assigned individual areas of the set to research; I am to handle the fashion and textiles of the set.
After the meeting I began my research, visiting websites of the two museums I will be seeing tomorrow: the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Fashion + Textile Museum. After seeing what exhibitions and displays were on offer (as well as finding out directions to and from my locations) I began my research into 1960's fashion. To begin with, I simply googled images of '1960's British Fashion' leading onto visiting vintage clothes websites such as http://www.rokit.co.uk/ and http://www.beyondretro.com/ for inspiration. Finally, I looked at costume designs from early 1960's based film and TV such as 'The Boat That Rocked', 'Mrs Biggs' and 'Alfie' as they are all based in Britain. Briefing session by Valentina
This morning six employees from Collage Arts, F21 and 88Creative including myself had a briefing meeting with the ONSCENE managers and directors. The meeting was based on a mini pilot project called 'Managing individual contribution in the context of working in collaborative creative team' (Scenography/Art). As an aspiring scenographer, I am prepared and intrigued to learn and know about what essential qualities I need to succeed in the creative world. Therefore this project sounds very interesting, fun and very beneficial all at the same time.
In today's briefing session we spoke about the tasks we have to complete and how important time keeping is, this was made very clear. I look forward to our visit to The Victoria and Albert Museum tomorrow where i will be researching ceramics from the 1960s, followed by a visit to The Design Museum where I will be looking at aspects of fashion and design from the 1960s. I believe that when given a new task, it is important to know what you are doing, therefore i decided to get ahead of the game and research into ceramics, fashion and design from the 1960s. Meeting/Brief.
- Today consisted of a meeting about what will be occurring ; this included information about what is expected from the team and also the credits along with task that will take place in order to gain these credits.
- After the meeting/brief ended I began researching, this included:
- Looking on the V&A website.
- Looking at some of the jewellery expected to be seen there.
- Googled examples of 1960 jewellery
- Looked for the admission fee for my individual museum (Museum of Childhood) that I will be attending afterwards.
- Got the directions/address.
- Googled examples of 1960 toys.
